As I’ve been prone to do with my trip planning, I’ve switched around my itinerary again.

I came up with my current itinerary a couple of weeks ago and then last week I tweaked it a little by making plans to stay in the Philippines longer than originally planned.

And now I’ve flipped it all around!

Basically I’ll be doing the trip in reverse of what I had originally planned.

So now this is the route I’ll be taking through southeast Asia…

  • Philippines
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Thailand
  • Singapore
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • Japan

So, what happened?

Well, two things…

One, I saw a cheaper flight from the Philippines going to Hanoi than the one I had originally planned to take to Bali.

And two… well, Japan is now on the list.   I desperately wanted to figure out a way to get there that fit in with my itinerary and now I have.   Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka run about $80.   So, I’ll take a flight there, spend some time with my brother and then head back home to Vancouver.

Oh yeah, and while I think I’ve got it all figured out, I’m pretty sure this will change again somewhere along the way…
