Early this morning I checked out of my hostel here in Belgrade and took a city bus to the airport.

I decided to fly to my next destination of Budva in Montenegro as it was only 40 minutes whereas a bus trip would have been over 10 hours.   The flight only cost 85 euros plus I needed to pay 15 euros for a cab from the airport in Tivat to my hostel in Budva.

As it’s still off season I arrived to yet another ghost town of a hostel.   Only myself and a couple of other people.   In fact, I had the whole 6 bed dorm to myself.

The weather was supposed to be rainy but to my delight it was actually beautiful out without a cloud in the sky.   Seriously – no clouds… how can a forecast be that off?

After checking in I walked down towards the seaside to checkout the beaches and the old town.

As I walked through the old town and passed souvenir shop after souvenir shop and restaurant after restaurant I turned a corner and my eyes lit up.

I said in an earlier blog that, for me, it’s not about the museums and galleries but the unique experiences along the way.

I had turned the corner into one of those.

Here on the sidewalk outside all the souvenir shops was a boy, maybe 12 or 13, sitting at a little card table with his proud assortment of shells and painted rocks.   I stopped and asked him how much for the rock and he smiled and said 1 euro.   I happily handed him the money and told him he was doing a great job and went on my way.

I am now in possession of possibly theĀ best souvenir ever!

Anyway, after stopping for a lunch of roast lamb I headed back to the hostel to try to figure out what I was going to do for the next few days.

I’ve found that over the last couple of weeks ever since Split I haven’t been as motivated to explore these new cities and countries.   Almost like I was going through the motions.

And then, just like that, I decided I didn’t want to travel anymore.

I was ready to come home.

So I spent the evening looking up various flight options to get home.   I also talked to some people on Facebook that I used to work with to see what was going on at my old job.   I even checked Craigslist for apartments.

I’m 99.9% sure I’m going to end this adventure this week but I’m going to sleep on it and see what tomorrow feels like…
