You know how a long weekend is usually associated with fun and frolicking and an extra day off?

Well, my last weekend was long – but in the completely opposite way…

As my flight was Tuesday and moving day was Monday, that meant I had ALOT of stuff to do over the weekend.

Of course the weekends are where us waiters make our money so I also squeezed work shifts in there as well.

Add to that a bunch of goodbye hugs, a goodbye dinner and a few goodbye drinks and I had a very pack filled weekend.

In fact, In the last 72 hours I haven’t slept more than 5 hours on any of those nights so as I write this, I won’t lie, I’m a little bit tired.

But, hey, the blog most go on…

As the trip and the accompanying move out of my condo was slowly creeping up, I had been busy crossing off a few things at a time off my enormous list the last week or so.

A cleaning of the oven here.   A packing of electronics there.

And then the weekend came and, wow, did it go into hyperdrive as I suddenly realized I had very limited time after my night work shifts to get the rest of my list done.

So, each night I would stay up til the wee hours of 8 in the morning only to get up mere hours later to get ready for work the next day.

As Sunday came and I was doing the final touches of packing boxes and cleaning my bathroom I got the sense of euphoria as the apartment was done and I was all packed and ready to go.

Of course that euphoria quickly wore off as after just a short 4 hours of sleep I was at the UHaul rental place to pick up my moving van.

Oh, moving, what fun!

Thank God for good friends or move day would have killed me.   Literally, killed me.

When it was all said and done, it was 5:30 and everything was moved – stored at my Mom’s place for the next 4 1/2 months.

Time for dinner at the Keg cause, well, dammit, I deserved it – we all did.

And then at 10pm I was back home for one final nights sleep.

In an empty apartment.

With just a sleeping bag and a pillow.

Easily my worst nights sleep as sleeping on a hard floor (even carpeted) is not something I ever want to do again.

But, I made it through.

And now, Euro Trip 2017 has arrived.

Tomorrow I’ll be in Mexico spending the next 2 weeks there before flying to Cuba for 2 more weeks and then it’s onto the meat of the trip – 3 1/2 months in Europe.

So, ready?

Here we go…
