Over the years, as I’ve gone on trip after trip crossing off countries along the way, there’s always been that special trip at the top of my travel wish list.
The trip I’ve been dreaming of for years.
A trip to Antarctica.
Despite it being on the top of my list, I just kept bypassing it each year for different trips and adventures to go on.
I mean, let’s face it, a trip to Antarctica ain’t cheap. In fact, for the same amount of money, I could literally travel around Southeast Asia for more than 6 months.
So, I just kept telling myself “I’ll get to it eventually”…
Going down the rabbit hole
While I’m between trips, I’ll go down the travel rabbit hole every so often dreaming of places to go.
I’ll look up flights, adventures, travel itineraries and all sorts of stuff.
I’ve got bookmarks on my browser for trips to all sorts of places like Tibet, Easter Island, Africa, Mongolia, and, well, you get the idea.
And, of course, I’ve had an Antarctica folder bookmarked for awhile now.
Well, in the summer, I started looking at what trip I could do this fall.
Tibet and Mongolia?
New Zealand?
Chile?
Or, maybe, this is the year I finally go to Antarctica…
Hmmm…
So, I started opening up those old Antarctica bookmarks and, before you knew it, I was deep down the rabbit hole researching different tours there.
Before I knew it, I was staring at a screen with my credit card info on it for a $9768.35 CAD purchase.

My finger hovered over the “Make Payment” button.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve spent this kind of money.
Should I?
I don’t know.
If I press the button, there’s no turning back…
It’s non refundable…
And then…
I
Pressed
The
Button
It was July 28th and the countdown was on. In just under 100 days, I’d be leaving for Antarctica Trip 2025!
