So today was day 4 here in Hoi An which, frankly is 2 too many but there was that little matter of a Gold Medal hockey game last night that kind of readjusted my plans.
Like yesterday, there really wasn’t much I did today.
Well, there was one thing…
I RODE A MOTORCYCLE FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY!!!
Yup, I rented a motorbike from the people in front of the hostel for the whopping sum of $5 for the day.
I didn’t have anywhere to go I just wanted to see how it felt and see if I could handle it here in the more quiet streets of Hoi An.
It felt pretty good!
I practiced in traffic and also out on the open road and as the day went on I felt more and more confident on it.
Anna and I really didn’t spend any time together at all today. I think our little adventure together may be coming to an end as once we fly to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City/HCMC (seriously, they are all the same place) together tomorrow our plans kind of differ as she’s on a timeline and is worried about how many days she has for things while I’m just winging it.
So, what did I do today? Hmmmm….
Well, I went for another massage, cause, well I really had nothing to do.
For lunch, Natalia from Norway who checked in last night hopped on the back of my motorbike (it sounds so cool to say that) and we ended up at back at a place I had gone to a couple of days ago.
For dinner, I met up with Shelley I had hung out with in Hanoi last week. She arrived in Hoi An late last night and contacted me on Facebook this afternoon.
It’s kind of cool that people you meet along the way pop back in further down the road as most people are travelling the same route.
Other than that though, there really isn’t anything to write about.
Tomorrow I fly to Saigon where I will be for the next 2 or 3 days. After that, it’s a 4-5 day journey to Da Lat and Mui Ne. I’ll then return to Saigon and head to Cambodia through the Mekong Delta.
Gonna be a busy week!
