Today marks exactly 8 weeks that I’ve been on the road. It seems like ages ago I was in London and my time in Mexico seems like a distant memory.
I woke up late this morning and made the decision to skip the day tour to Dingle peninsula.
I had paid 25 euros ($30) to do it but I just didn’t want to put myself in a spot like yesterday where I felt trapped on the bus all day.
Plus the sunny sky was replaced with a grey sky and a light drizzle.
And my leg. My damn leg is still really stiff after almost a week now.
So, I stayed in bed.
I actually checked my emails around 10am and found one from the tour company telling me they were cancelling my trip today anyway because I was the only one who had signed up for it.
Hah, so I couldn’t have gone on the trip anyway.
At least I was going to get my 25 euros refunded now because they cancelled it not knowing I wasn’t even going to show up for it so that’s a little bonus.
I honestly spent most of the day in the room watching YouTube videos popping my head out for a little lunch in the afternoon.
I’ve had a lot of time on my own the last few days and alot of time to think.
And I think…
It’s time to come home.
As I mentioned I think last week 2 months is kinda the time I hit the wall when it comes to traveling. Don’t know why but I just do.
I’ve kind of had that in my mind for a couple of weeks now but today I made the decision and booked my flight home.
April 11th was always going to be the last day on this leg of the trip and I had a cheap Ryanair flight booked out of the UK to Timisoara in Romania for that night to start of the next leg of this trip to Eastern Europe.
Now, I’m flying to Vancouver instead.
Coming home early is due to a few different factors with my leg pain being a big reason but also the prospect of being on the road for another 5 weeks just wasn’t endearing to me anymore.
So, there we go – the trip is coming to an end in just 2 weeks from now.
The next few days are going to be full with me going to Blarney tomorrow, flying to Scotland the next day and then going on a three day tour of the Isle of Skye after that.
After that I have a week to explore Scotland before I head on home to Vancouver.
