It’s been a week and a half since I contracted my stomach virus and it’s just now almost completely left my system.

I will say, leaving Cuba early and finding solace in a couple of places I had previously visited was definitely the right move.   I couldn’t imagine going through what I went through the last week while trying to be active travelling in Cuba.

But now I’m almost back to 100% and I’m raring to go!

I spent the last couple of days finalizing my itinerary for Paris and today I started to make plans for my extensive 5 week trip in the UK immediately afterwards.

Unbelievable to think that tomorrow I’ll be atop the Eiffel Tower and immersed in the joie de vivre that is Paris.

But that’s tomorrow…

Today was a continuation of my bizarre sleep patterns I’ve had the last week.   I once again woke up super early after only a few hours sleep only to be so tired right after lunch that I slept all afternoon.

So, yeah, the morning I was on my computer looking up stuff for the UK and then at noon I headed out to get lunch.

I decided I wanted to go to the same restaurant as last night but this time I chose a different location hoping I would get a much better experience.

Sure enough, the waitress I had today at lunch was amazing.   She actually took the time to speak with me and when I asked for a cold drink she suggested this amazing fruit compote made of pears, apples, raisins, dates and cinnamon.

It was amazing!

I again had the rye soup but I chose the large entree sized version that also came with sausage, bread and a hard boiled egg.

Perfect lunch.

My bill was only 18 zloty ($6) and I balanced out the tipping universe by leaving my server a 10 zloty ($3.50) tip making up for the 5% tip I left my crappy server yesterday.

Like I said, after lunch I went straight back to the hostel and just crashed in bed until 8pm.

Hmmm, sleeping until 8pm is going to make for an interesting nights sleep tonight considering I have to be up at 7am tomorrow to start my journey to Paris.

Oh well, I’m just gonna have to make it work.

Naturally I went back to the same restaurant for dinner and while the service wasn’t as amazing as I had at lunch it was still decent enough.

For dinner I had a mug of the rye soup (seriously, I love this stuff!) and an order of bbq ribs atop of sauteed sauerkraut along with a side order of green beans.

The rest of the night was, once again, spent in the common room in front of my netbook planning out the UK.

I know, what an EXCITING day!!!

No worries, though, ’cause tomorrow is gonna be the start of the rest of my trip and I can’t wait to get out there exploring again…
