Time to move onto my next city, gimpy leg and all.

Yeah, my right leg is still bothering me and I’m actually convinced I’ve torn a calf muscle or something like that as the pain is excruciating if I’m lying or sitting in certain positions.

It’s cause for concern but I also have places to be and things to see so onward I go!

I woke up bright and early this morning to catch an 8:30 train.   Naturally, last night was Daylight Savings Time and I lost an hour’s sleep so it was even earlier than it shoulda been.

The plan was to take a train to Limerick a couple of hours away, spend a few hours there and then take a two hour bus down to my next city, Killarney.

The train arrived at 10:30 and I had choices for which bus to catch to get to Killarney as buses left at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00.

As I disembarked my train and walked down the streets in Limerick on a Sunday morning it became apparent that I would be leaving on the earliest bus outta the city.

The city was dead.   Like DEAD!   I’m assuming it was because it was a Sunday morning but, seriously, the streets were deserted and nothing was open.

My visions of having a nice lunch and exploring the city quickly changed to grabbing some McDonalds and waiting at a bus stop.

I arrived in the small city of Killarney mid afternoon and for the first time in weeks had to actually take off my winter coat because it was so nice and warm out.

I hobbled along to the hostel and checked in.

Only one in the room!   Sweet!

And then someone else checked in.

And then someone else.

And then, well, the room ended up being full with eight of us.

Oh well, it was a nice dream for a little bit.

I honestly just spent most of the afternoon watching videos on my computer and chatting with my new roommates as they checked in.

By 7pm I was starving and I headed out to get a nice meal.

I ended up at a nice little restaurant packed with people which is always a good sign.

Three courses for me today as I started with a seafood chowder served on bread with cheese, had a lamb shank for dinner, and apple pie with ice cream for dessert.

Yup, I splurged but sometimes you just deserve a nice meal, ya know!

More chatting into the night and by 11pm the lights were out and it was time for bed.

Tomorrow I’ll head on a day tour to the Ring of Kerry which is the big attraction on the outskirts of the town of Killarney.

Weather is supposed to be perfect and maybe, just maybe, I won’t be hobbling like a little old man…
