Okay, the time has arrived!

Blog #500 kicks off my trip to Cuba.

Crazy to think I’ve written 500 blogs, but, yeah, I counted, and that number’s right.

So many places.   So many adventures.   So many people I’ve met along the way.

And many more to come…

Snow day

Well, as the title to this blog suggests, it snowed in Vancouver today.   While it’s just around freezing here, it’s 25C (77F) in Cuba right now.

Perfect time to get outta here if I do say so myself!

I woke up at 1pm with a list of things to do.   I had 5 hours before my friend Brady would arrive to take me to the airport.

By the way, huge shoutout to Brady for driving in the snow to get me to the airport today.   I really do appreciate every one who helps me with my trips whether it’s a ride to or from the airport or someone looking in on my cats while I’m away.

It’s a huge help and unloads alot of stress off my shoulders as I plan out my trips.

Anyway, where was I?

Oh yeah, 5 hours to cross things off my to-do list.

After spending the afternoon cleaning up the place, moving things from my laptop to my travel laptop, downloading    stuff to watch on the plane, and packing everything up, it was 4:30 and I found myself in a bit of a time crunch.

I still had to go to the bank to make a deposit and pop by Staples to print out a Visa form for Cuba.

As much as I didn’t want to, I headed out into the snow and hopped in my car.

So close, missed the snow by one frickin day!

Anyway, luckily the snow wasn’t really landing on the ground too much so it was more of a “I hope some other idiot doesn’t hit me” kind of drive.

After the errands were done and after I had taken a nice, well deserved shower, I was on my last half hour.

Just enough time to spend with my little cats.

Poor little guys, they don’t even know they’re not gonna see me again for 2 1/2 weeks.

Before I knew it, it was 6pm and my ride to the airport was here.

Time to kill

I arrived at the airport around 7pm for my 9:30 flight giving me a nice 2 1/2 hour window before my flight.

Again, like every other time I’ve traveled, I was in and out of security quickly and at my gate just 20 minutes later.

Yup, I had two hours to kill before my flight.

If you ever wondered what I do with two hours at the airport, well, you’re literally reading it.   I blog, of course.   Everything you’ve read so far was written on a little table in the departure area while waiting for my flight.

Anyway, finally, at 9:00, we boarded our flight.
